Q: What is the Pre-MBA Program?
A: The Pre-MBA Program is a 13-week program for International and U.S students, which prepares students for success in U. S style MBA programs with an integrated curriculum of business and developmental courses along with critical academic skills. Students also practice both written and oral presentation skills essential for business. Those with limited business education or experience gain a basic understanding of essential business concepts and practices.

A: The Pre-MBA program has been a part of the Graduate School of Management since 1971.

A: Pre-MBA is a 13 week program.

Q: What official documents are needed to apply?
A: The official documents needed are:

1. Official transcripts to be sent directly from the applicant’s undergraduate University to the Pre-MBA Department in a sealed (closed) envelope.
2. Diploma/Degree (Graduation) certificate. A copy made from the original can be sent to the Pre-MBA Department. However, upon acceptance into the program the original certificate must be presented.
3. Two Letters of Recommendation sent to the pre-MBA Department directly by the Referee (Professional or academic reference).
4. Bank Statement from the bank within the past 3 months from the date of your application.

Q: Is Work Experience required to apply for the Pre-MBA Program?
A: The Pre-MBA Program does not require a minimum level of work experience. Students are evaluated on their past academic credentials and their ability to succeed in an MBA Program. However, many students enter the program with an average of 1-3 years work experience.

Q: What benefits does the program have for a student?
A: Pre-MBA is designed to prepare you for an MBA program. This program will cover the basics of a first year MBA program. Students will have the opportunity to develop and practice standard presentation skills, research skills and writing which will give them an advantage in their MBA studies. Click here

Q: When are the classes offered?
A: Pre-MBA is a full–time program. Classes are offered Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m-12:00 p.m and 1:00-3:30 p.m.

Q: How much study time per subject do I need?
A: Study time solely depends on your English and business background. Average time spent is at least one to two hours per class hour.

Q: What is the average size of classes?
A: For interactive class participation and timely faculty assistance, the average class size ranges from 18-35 students. However class size may vary per term.

Q: Are scholarships available for the Pre-MBA?
A: Pre-MBA does not award scholarships or financial aid. However, upon successful completion of the Pre-MBA with a GPA of 3.5, students may apply for a Graduate Assistantship. Q: What is the cost structure for the Pre-MBA Program?
A: The cost of tuition is $4,500, 4 months health insurance $340, technology fee $40 and $60.00 activity fee. In addition to these expenses you will need additional funds to cover housing, books, food and miscellaneous expenses. Please Click here for more information.

Q: Is the TOEFL score required?
A: Yes, Pre-MBA requires a minimum 520 TOEFL (190 on the computer-based test.) Students who do not meet this requirement may be considered for admission to the Pre-MBA program on a case-by-case basis. Special considerations will be made for applicants whose primary medium of education is English.

Q: Is admission into the Graduate School of Management guaranteed upon completion of the program?
A: If you complete the Pre-MBA with a satisfactory G.P.A. and meet the TOEFL requirements, you will be able to enroll in the Graduate School of Management. Click here for admission information.

A: No, Financial Aid is not available to American Students applying to the Pre-MBA Program.


Q: How long do you issue I-20's for?
A: The International Student Services Office issues I-20s for a period of 4 months for those who study only the Pre-MBA program. Additionally, I-20's are issued for a period of 2 years and 4 months for students who intend to continue their study at the University of Dallas's MBA program. A letter can be written from the director to the visa officer explaining the nature of the Pre-MBA program upon applicants request. This letter supports the student's intent to continue their studies in a fulltime U.S. MBA program for two additional years.

Q: What is an official document?

Official Transcripts from the US:

A: Must be in a sealed envelope sent directly from the university (with the university stamp on the back)

Official International Transcripts (except India):

A: Must be in a sealed envelope from the university in the original language (with the university stamp on the back)

B: Must include a copy of the diploma in the original language

C: Must be accompanied by an English translation

Official Indian Mark Sheets (and for older documents from Nepal and Pakistan):

A: Must be either brought into the admissions office in person, or sent from a USEFI office (this is from India only - if sent from USEFI Office, must be in the sealed envelope with the stamp on the back)

B: Must be individual (semester by semester or year by year depending on the school) – Consolidated Mark sheets are not acceptable

C: Must be issued by the university (not the department or the college)

D: Must be accompanied by a copy of the diploma (graduation certificate or provisional certificate)

Letters of Recommendation:

A: Must be from professional or academic sources

a: Professional means either a colleague or a supervisor from the applicant’s current or former place of employment

b: Academic means a professor or instructor from the applicant’s college

B: May not be from a relative, regardless of the working relationship

C: Must be signed by the referrer and must include the referrer’s title, company name, and contact information

D: May be faxed or mailed

TOEFL/IELTS scores:

A: Must come directly from the testing company (ETS/IELTS); the only exception is the iBT and the Admissions Office will accept results as official if the applicant provides the Admissions Office with his/her username and password for the ETS site to access scores.

Name Change Documents:

A: For a student’s name to be officially changed in Banner, the student must provide the  legal document with the name change (from and to).  These would include:

a: Divorce decree (with only the page showing the name change)

b: Marriage license
